India is very close towards building the
world’s largest telescope in Ladak. The aim behind this action is to study
sun’s microscopic structure. Project was undertaken by the Indian Institute of
Astrophysycs (IIA). Solar telescope will help to study the microscopic
structure of the sun and derive specific observations that are speculative in
nature. The biggest fixed telescopes are equipped with an optical fat mirror
system to track the sun rays and direct them to the telescope.
The 10 meter optical telescope at Mauna
kea in Hawaii is the largest, the Indian instrument will be the largest among
the solar telescopes. Recently, the world's largest solar telescope, with a
diameter of 1.6 meters in Kitt peak national observatory in the US. Solar telescope can
study particles, which were spread across 50 km on the sun. The solar telescope
will be used to observe the sun during the day will need a location with long
hours of clear sunshine and clean visible conditions.
